Dogami was a start-up project driven by LUI (Ljubljana University Incubator) and is a smart activity tracker for dogs. It uses the simplicity of mathematics and the beauty of electrical engineering to create a stronger bond between the dog and its owner. The device synchronises with your smartphone, giving you an accurate view of your pet's activity level anywhere, anytime.
It monitors the moments when your dog goes beyond its normal activity level - whether it's running, jumping, chasing a Frisbee or exploring its surroundings. Dogami records all these dynamic movements and allows the owner to monitor the dog's energy.
It gives insight into important but less intensive activities such as walking, playing or looking for hidden objects. These activities are essential for your dog's healthy exercise and well-being.
Dogami records all of your dog's activity throughout the day, whether it's a walk in the park, playing in the yard or moving around the home.
With Dogami, the owner can know exactly how many kilometres his dog has walked, even when he is not right next to him. This helps to plan even more active walks and games.
It allows you to monitor how fast and how hard your dog accelerates during play or training. Dogami also provides insights into maximum acceleration and top speed, adding a fun element to activity monitoring.
For Dogami, I have studied and improved on the already established definition of target users and market trends to discover what dog owners really want and need. This ensured that the product was tailored to their preferences and lifestyle. We defined the typical personas that had a key impact on the user experience and customised the value display in the user interface.
Once we had a clear picture of user needs, I started to develop the first ideas for the brand and the user interface. I shared these ideas with the team and together we refined them based on feedback. The biggest challenge was to present the complex data about the dog's activity in a simple and understandable way. By adapting the designs, we were able to optimise the functionality and usability of the app, resulting in an intuitive and user-friendly product.
The next step was to create prototypes of typical app pages and a presentation website. I designed icons and graphical elements to simplify the understanding of the data and to allow a quick interpretation of the information. The result was a minimalistic and friendly interface that allows easy access to all relevant information about the dog's activity.
As the project was still in the development phase at the time, only part of it is shown here.
