about me

who am i?

my name is david praznik, generation '76 and i'm a graphic and user interface designer. i grew up in a small town - velenje, where i've learned lots of life lessons and practical skills at that time that still come in handy. in the year of the new millenium, i moved to ljubljana, the capital of slovenia. i’ve spent 2 years and a half at the institute and academy of multimedia, where i was also a lecturer for adobe illustrator, adobe indesign and adobe photoshop. for the past few years i am mainly involved with user interface design, user experience and vector graphics. however, i am not strictly a web oriented person, because i also like to design for print and my passion for logo design is alive and kicking.

what can you find on this site?

this is the third update of my info project that represents my personal portfolio from where i show my work to you dear visitor, my friends, future clients and future employers. the first two galleries are part of my projects collection. some visuals shown here are from my previous jobs and some from my freelance collection. there is also another gallery that represents my passion for photography. in my spare time, especially during my travels, i always take my camera with me. sometimes i just grab it and start taking pictures for the pure fun of it. i love photography. it's creative and it preserves the nice memories from the past.

how was this site designed?

since my previous version from the '06 (which won many awards and was featured in many web showcase galleries) was slowly becoming outdated, it was time to create a new, even more project-related showcase. i wanted a simple and clean one-page layout with an easy-to-use navigation. when things started to make more sense, the idea was completely realized in illustrator. previous version '08 was based on a darker layout, but i realized that a white layout (for this portfolio) is what i want. backend is based on joomla with modifications for a better user experience. fancybox is the script i use for the galleries. the code is 100% css and xtml valid and seo optimised.

studio varia - gui

salon varia owned by salon kuhinja d.o.o., offers a wide selection of custom kitchens, dining rooms, furniture and other home equipment. i showcase the full version of web user interface which is different from the public one.

mtb.si - gui

completely redesigned interface from the ground up for the largest slovenian mountain bike community - mtb.si. it serves as a newsgroup site for events in slovenia and around the world.

jabolko.org - gui

I created two user interface designs for the main jabolko.org project: one for the blog and one for the forum. both communicate with the same simplicity. check it out!

tomazzlender.com - gui

one page personal portfolio, multilingual interface design for web developer tomaž žlender. the design is based on a jeans and fake leather theme. this site is featured in the web designers's idea book vol. 2. chek it out!

flipit.si - user interface v2.0

flipit.si is the informational web site of the virtu d.o.o. company (NIL group), created strictly for the company's customers. besides the minimalistic web user interafce with vector icons i have also created the corporate identity for the company.

davidpraznik.com - iphone interface

joomla based iPhone interface version of my website was a beautiful challenge. it automatically detects if you are viewing this site with an iPhone, as well as the orientation of the handy gadget.

endemit.si - web design, gui

endemit wanted a website where they could showcase a huge portfolio with their personal and relaxed way of comunication. the idea was based on the simple, black and white typo design interface without gradients and shadows.

rabim.info - redesign, gui

the customer was looking for a more user friendly interface, since the 1st version was not completely satisfying his needs. it was entirely redesigned, and spiced up with lots of new ideas that added more functionality and a better user experinece.

infiniti.si - web design, gui

i decided to create a tag related, yet simple user friendly navigation, which enables lots of different ways to navigate through the content, no matter if there are projects or news articles from the blog. the goal was a clean user interface.

business connect - ui concept

this is an advanced web based application for managing paper material, performing business processes and electronic exchange of documents. the customer, who is an apple fan :), wanted a dark user interface.

slovenske železnice - gui

this is the design concept of the slovenian railway company. the purpose of the project was to present all the transport possibilities and international connections, that travelling by train can give to travelers. it has not been realized yet.

jabolko.org - apple users of slovenia

most difficult to create is a symbolism for something that is so perfect as the Apple logo. in the end I opted for a simple and minimalist approach. jabolko.org

flipit.si - icons set

a set of vector illustrated icons i have made for flipit user interafce. they were created as a symbol for the titles on the flipit.si first page.

tobogan - logo

logo design proposal for the team building organiser company who is working under direction of rene mlekuž, ex slovenian alpine skier.

studio varia - logotype

typographic solution of logotype where the symbol (star character) asociates the kitchen table with chairs from the bird perspective.

midamo - logo

this logo was designed for a reseller of one of the leading ladies wear companies in europe. green color stands for environment care.

cmf - logo

competitive examination (infiniti mrm) for logo, business card, letterhead, envelope and user interface design (approved).

cocoasoft - logo

logo redesign proposal for a company that is developing mobile based software and games.

pro eco - corporate identity

corporate identity for pro eco: folder, a5 manual (13 pages), logo, business card, envelope, fax cover sheet, 2 letterheads and a blank diploma.

delo - weather icons set

a set of vector illustration weather icons that i made for delo. the customer wanted a clean version that would function nicely in different sizes (32x32, 50x50 and 128x128).
